FAQs

  • Fees can be paid by credit card, debit card, or Health Savings Accounts. Our office no longer accepts cash or checks for ongoing therapy sessions.

  • You are responsible for knowing whether your insurance plan covers behavioral health services. Our staff will check your benefits before your appointment, as a courtesy, and will email you a cost estimate for services. This cost estimate is only an estimate of what your insurance reports to us, that you owe for services, on the day we do the benefits check. It is not a guarantee of cost for services and your insurance plan may determine, after we bill, that the cost is different than the estimate.

Youl still want to be aware of what is covered by your plan by calling the customer service number on the back of your card. Here are the things you want to ask when you call:

    Are behavioral health services covered?

What are my behavioral health costs for an office visit or virtual visit with Intentional Journey Counseling Services?

Do I have a deductible for behavioral health services?

Do I have a co-pay or co-insurance for behavioral health services?

  • If you have a deductible, you will be responsible for the full rate your insurance determines is owed until your deductible is met. For example, if your deductible is $1000, you are responsible for the first $1000 in service fees before your insurance will start to pay out its portion for services.

  • A co-pay is a fixed out-of-pocket amount that you pay for services. For example, you may have a $25 co-pay for each session. You are responsible for paying only that amount for your session.

A co-insurance is a percentage of the full contracted fee that you are responsible to pay for services. For example, you may have a co-insurance that is 20% of the cost of services and insurance will pay 80% for services. For example, if the insurance rate is $125.50 for a session, you would then be responsible to pay $25.10 per session.

If you have further questions about insurance coverage or need help figuring out what your cost for services may be, don't hesitate to give us a call at 269-588-1441 and we can walk you through it.

  • Here you will find our fee schedule for services, effective on January 1, 2022. These fees apply to self-pay clients who are not utilizing insurance for services or client's wanting to use OON (Out of Network) benefits or if your insurance denies payment for services.

  • A mental health professional can help you approach your situation in a new way– teach you new skills, gain different perspectives, listen to you without judgment or expectations, and help you listen to yourself. We are emotionally connected to our loved ones and they are attached to us. When we reach out to them for help their opinions or advice are fogged by their desire to protect us. Family or friends may often give advice based on what they feel might be best for you and may be led by their emotional involvement with your situation. By seeing a mental health professional your situation is also confidential and no one has to know about your "business."

  • Treatment is based on your needs and your goals for therapy. Because of this, therapy is not the same experience for everyone. We let our clients guide sessions in the direction that will be most beneficial to their needs.

  • Medications alone cannot solve all mental health issues. They can only treat symptoms and in some cases they only mask symptoms, without getting to the root of the problem. Through therapy you can explore the root causes of issues and work to cope with and solve those issues. Medication is sometimes needed and can be helpful in conjunction with therapy. Your therapist may suggest medication in conjunction to therapy and will refer you to your primary care doctor or a psychiatrist, if needed.

  • Again, treatment varies depending on your circumstances. There is no set timeframe for when therapy will end. It also depends on the length of time it takes to achieve your goals, your desire for personal development, your commitment to the process, and your motivating factors that drove you to seek out therapy in the first place. Typically sessions will be about 55-60 minutes in length and you will typically be seen every week or every other week to start. EMDR clients are required to make weekly appointments.

  • Most healthcare plans will cover behavioral health services. You will need to call your plan's customer service number to confirm you have coverage.

  • If you are unable to make your scheduled appointment you must give us at least 24 hours notice that you need to cancel or reschedule. You will need to call our office at 269-588-1441 as soon as you know you cannot attend an appointment. If you cancel with 24 hours of your scheduled appointment you will be charged the $105 no show/late cancelation fee.
